The Project

This case study comes from Andy who was looking to replace his old rotting Wooden Greenhouse. He was looking for a suitable foundation to ensure that his new 8ft x 6ft Summerhouse would not face the same fate as his old Greenhouse. Andy began researching to find the best solution to his problem, this is when he found our website and started reading about our product and all of its benefits. Andy was so impressed with our product he ordered himself an 8ft x 6ft Plastic Base along with a Shed Base Membrane the same day he found our website. He received his base and membrane a few days later in an easy to manage box which is hand-packed by our warehouse staff.

The Work

Once the day of installation arrived, Andy unpacked his 8ft x 6ft base in the garden and got to work. He began by dismantling and removing his old rotten Greenhouse from the garden.  After this Andy began preparing the ground on which his base would stand, he created a wooden border and laid the shed base membrane inside. On top of the membrane, he laid a hardcore sub-base and compacted this down to create a solid flooring on which our panels would sit and still allow for water to drain naturally away. Next, Andy began installed the plastic base by laying one panel at a time and connecting them together simply as he went along using the specially designed slot and peg system. He told us how easy the base was to install. Once this was complete he filled the entire base with decorative gravel, around 8kg of gravel is needed to fill each panel. Finally, Andy could install his brand new wooden summerhouse onto his base. We all agree it looks fantastic!

“The plastic grid was laid on top of that, then filled with the remains of the MoT1 and a mix of 10m and 20mm gravel.  This provided a firm, level base for the summerhouse which is raised above the surrounding ground level that tends to get waterlogged in the winter.”
