10ft x 6ft Plastic Shed Base Relocation

This case study comes from a customer, David, who had recently received an almost brand new shed from a work friend. His friend had recently purchased the shed from Ransoms Garden Centre in Jersey.

However not long after installing his shed in his garden, David moved house and decided to take his shed with him. After moving his shed once, he decided that he wanted a base that would be easy to install at his new house and that he could move easily should he need to. This is when David began researching and came across our website where he found our easy to install, permeable and fully recycled plastic shed base.

Project

After reading up on the full range of benefits, David ordered himself a 10ft x 6ft Plastic Shed Base. He received the base just a few working days later and could begin his installation as soon as he had purchased his recycled chippings from a nearby hardware store.

When speaking to David about why he chose to use our plastic base, he told us: “I didn’t want to have a concrete or any other type base as it would be expensive and time-consuming, as well as being difficult to move later on if needed.”

Work

David began his installation by preparing the ground on which his base would be stood. The existing ground was already a hard material so all David did was compact it down further and ensure the entire area was level.

From here he began to lay his new 10ft x 6ft base. He started in one corner and laid one panel at a time and simply connected each piece as he went along using the simple slot and peg system. David said how simple this was to do.

Once all of his panels were in place and secure, David began filling the entire area with his recycling chippings – around 8kg of gravel is required to fill each panel so you can estimate how much you will need to fill your entire area. Again this was a simple for David to do.

Finally, with his base now complete, he could install his Shed in his new garden on his plastic base. And should he move houses again or want to relocate his shed, all he needs to do is move his base and shed to their new location!

Conclusion

A big thank you to David for sharing the photos and information to allow us to create this case study. David was and still is very pleased with his new plastic shed base and wooden shed. We all agree it looks fantastic!

David said “For under £100, the plastic base (even with shipping on top) was the best value option and just £15 for the recycled chippings to put on the plastic base. The shed was then delivered and now sits stable and proud ready for summer!”
